Adult's biological meaning refers to an animal that is capable of reproduction. If used in conjunction with human beings, the term "adult" can have meanings that are associated with legal or social notions. Legally mature means that a person has reached the age of maturity. They are considered autonomous, self-sufficient as well as responsible. An adult who is legally mature can be described as a major. The age of 18 is the standard legally-adulted age at which you can become an adult but this could be different depending on your country and the status of the law and also mental maturity.

The age of adulthood marks the point that an individual has reached maturity in terms of both physical and mental growth. Adulthood, as typically understood, is at the age of around 20 or 21. Then, after middle age (starting about 40 years old), comes old age (around age 60). The three major stages of adulthood are early adulthood (from the mid 30s until late 60s) mid-adulthood between the mid-30s through late-60s, and finally adulthood, (mid-60s up to end of life). Physical maturation has been completed at the point we are in the early years of adulthood (20-40s), although the weight and height may increase slightly. As we enter our early twenties, the physical capabilities of our bodies reach their peak. They include strength of muscles as well as reaction speed.
